Happy Cat Month
September is Happy Cat Month which was created by the CATalyst Council to help spread the word about the health, welfare, and the value of companion cats. There is a perception that cats are self-reliant aloof, and less in need of medical care than dogs. The goal of this celebration is to counteract these stereotypes and ensure cats are well cared for, enriched, and receive the preventive care they require.
The month will focus on one topic per week and distribute information via Social Media – the CATalyst Council Facebook Page (facebook.com/CatalystCouncil), Twitter (twitter.com/catalystcouncil), and the official event sites happycatmonth.com and happycatmonth.org.
• Week 1 – Happy Healthy Cat (September 1-5)
• Week 2 – Happy Enriched Cat (September 6-12)
• Week 3 – Happy Multi-Cat (September 13-19)
• Week 4 – Happy Valued Cat (September 20-30)
Happy 11th Birthday to Merlin! He’s known as the Cancer Fighting Sphynx on Facebook. We know him from his blog – Chat Aux Sphinx. His mom Christine shared the happy news that the veterinary specialists now think he may have been misdiagnosed and might have small cell lymphoma instead of large cell (which is a possibility since h was diagnosed via several small needle aspirates). Small cell has a much better prognosis and would be more likely to go into remission, which is likely where he is. Visit him on his blog or FB page and send happy birthday wishes.
