Jean Neilson Forever

On Sunday, March 10 our pet community lost a special friend ~ Jean Neilson of The Canadian Cats, home to Shoko and Tyebe, and her Angel kitties Budd and Kali. Jean had blogged for nearly ten-years, until in May of 2022, her dear husband of 50-years, Bill posted that due to her declining health from a stroke, Jean could sadly no longer publish on her blog.  

She had always been a creative delight to so many ~ participating in every event with humor and energy.  Famous for her recipes, her garden tips, and oh yes, her love of tea!  And so proud of her beautiful Prince George, British Columbia … andthose adorable cats!  

We send our heartfelt sympathy to Bill now on his loss of Jean, and our friend, this beautiful and kind woman, may she rest peacefully, forever.

  3. Dear Bill, I’m so sorry for your loss-Jean was such a dear and I loved our conversations, especially the ones resolving around epilepsy. She was particularly understanding and comforting whenever Elsa had a seizure. She will be sorely missed by all who read her precious posts about the kitties. We hope time will bring back all the happy memories you shared instead of the today’s sorrows. Hugs and tail wags. 🐾

  5. Thank you everyone for the kind comments. Jean didn’t do very well in the last two years, but she is at peace now and out of pain. I will be forever thankful for her friendship and guidance; she helped make some very special memories. I didn’t realize how famous her blog, the Canadian Cats, was and how much fun she had in Cat Scouts until she had to quit. Thank you, everyone, for the card and letters you sent; I could not respond to all of them, but Jean and I read every one. Shoko and Tyebe seem to have adjusted well to Jeans leaving.

  7. I was sorry to see this. Jean and I bonded over Flamepoint Siamese. She was a lovely, generous soul, and I always enjoyed hearing from her.

  9. When Jean stopped blogging and coming to Cat Scout. Some of the fun was missing. My Angel Charles had a special relationship with Shoko and they poked fun at each other about where each of them lived.
    May all the Angels whose lives she touched great her with open arms.

  13. We visited on Sundays as part of the Sunday Selfies and were sad when Jean stopped blogging, although we respect the reasons why.

    Bill, you lost a lovely lady, and the power of the internet is so strong and positive that your loss will be felt by many.

  21. It was always so much fun to work with Jean and her kitties on her blog, she had tons of great ideas, did great photos and was full of joy and enthusiasm! We missed her so much when the stroke took her away from us all … now, may she rest well, forever in peace in the arms of the angels. With deep condolences to dear Bill … fondly, Ann and June
