Jackie Avery ~ brave and courageous, creative and funny, loving and loved. So very much loved by so very many. A cat blogging legend for twenty years ~ yes, twenty years! Jackie began telling us of the adventures of Eric and Flynn in 2006 as they roamed the fields of Allern Farm, climbing trees, chasing field mice, digging holes, wandering far and wide andeven wearing their own tiny, little cameras to shoot their own videos! Sleeping in flower pots or hay stacks in the barn, but always returning home to snuggle in Daddy Ivor’s lap at night, or curling up with Mom. Jackie shared their lives even after they crossed the bridge, taking us back in time, letting us all relive those “adventures”.
Adventures are not always good ones in life, and some years ago cancer came for our dear Jackie. But she attacked it fiercely and won that battle. When it made a return visit not long ago, she fought again. Week in and out, over and over. Many of you stood with her in this fight. It was not won, as hard as she tried, as much as she fought and all she suffered through these past months of treatments, we have sadly lost our beloved friend Jackie.
Our hearts hurt for her husband Ivor, their lifetime together. Our hearts hurt for their many close and dear friends in the United Kingdom and throughout the community of pet blogging. Jackie was a dear, kind and warm soul ~ loving and so loved. She will be missed, she will be remembered.

I hate that this happened. Personally, it was a shock, considering that an entry had been published on Eric and Flynn’s Memories blog just the day before I read this current post. I will miss Jackie, though I never met her, and I know the world is less for her passing. I grieve for Ivor, who has lost his life-mate. A terrible, terrible thing. Godspeed, Jackie.
Jackie (and Flynn and Eric) brought so much to our blogging community – long after the boys, Eric and Flynn had moved on to new lives – through the flash backs, as well as Jackie and Ivors many holiday trips and photographs. Their love, compassion, kindness and above all fun, shine as a beacon to all of us.
They will be so dearly missed and so much loved, and always remembered in the years to come.
That is a lovely tribute above from the Blogosphere, and I do hope we can do something possitive and lasting in our community to remember them all by each week . . .
We’ll miss you all, Jackie, Eric & Flynn, but long may your Devon life, love and humour continue to enrich ours.
How awfully sad. Jackie was such a lovely, warm woman. The adventures of Eric and Flynn kept us laughing. They had a great life with her. Condolences to Ivor, and to you for the loss of someone so dear.
So very sorry to hear this sad news. We did not know Jackie well, but she was always so kind to us in her comments on our blog. Rest in peace.

Sad and stunned that we los someone I thought indestructible. Jackie, thank you for the cards, and for the look into your world with the boys.
This is such heartbreaking news. Jackie was such a sweet and brave soul. She never gave up the fight, and I hate that she was finally bested by that evil cancer. She brought so much joy to so many, and I always loved reading about the boys, even after they had left for the rainbow Bridge. I know she, Eric, Flynn and her previous kitties are reunited again. Heartfelt sympathy for her dear Ivor.
When I first came to Jackie’s blog,,Eric was already gone. I really enjoyed the flashback adventures and the ongoing saga of Flynn. I prayed for her during her fight – what strength she and Ivor showed together.Purrayers and love to Ivor and all who loved her.
Our thoughts are with those who loved Jackie.
In our lifetime, God brings about certain people to come together in one way or another, and in my case, I “met” one of the best friends I’ve ever had, who I never actually “met “ in person
Her name is Jackie Avery.
During our friendship, we shared many things. Our love for cats, gardening, emails, ideas, times of joy; laughter, times of sorrow; tears.
Cuss words, spooky places, prayers, photos, bits and pieces of knowledge.
The list is endless, as is the road we shared on that journey called : friendship.
I know I’m not alone in saying Jackie, you touched many peoples lives; left one of those marks that will never be erased.
I will never forget you, and I thank God for bringing us together, across the big pond as He did. It is my honor and privilege to call you friend.
rest well with mr. who, kitty yum bum, eric and flynn.
watch over Ivor, his heart has been shattered into a million pieces
and sometime when you are looking down from heaven, see if you can spot that coffee house in Kerry; the dog is probably still in the open car and in the pouring rain
You and I alone, know what this means…..MFSAGD. …..
love to you Jackie, always. laura
Ivor, may God grant you peace in your heart in knowing Jackie is in heaven, and may HE give you strength in the days ahead. Soulmates are always near, in heart and memory, and Jackie still walks by your side ♥♥♥♥♥

Just too sad.
What a shame. I loved Jackie, I loved her kitties and I loved her cruises. Big healing hugs to Ivor. ♥
She was such a wonderful person. We are heartbroken.
Very sad news. RIP Jackie.
No matter her pain or circumstances, Jackie always took the time to comment on others’ blogs. She was kind, considerate, and such a devoted mom to Eric and Flynn, who we all adored in the cat blogosphere. She will be deeply missed…
Love and Purrs from Deb and the Zee/Zoey gang.
No, no, no. No. 😭 I had been hoping and praying she would have more time. I am beyond sorry for her loss, for Ivor, for all who grieve her. I’m in shock with this news. 💔
Barrie and I have lost a true friend. We spent so many glorious weeks together at their lovely home. Shared so many of life’s ups and downs. From the first moment we met in person after being blog friends we became best friends. I can’t believe you are gone. Ivor you are in my heart and thoughts. You lost your soul mate. Rest easy now Jackie back with your boys . You will be so missed. Xxx
That is such a lovely tribute to an exceptional lady. I had the good fortune to meet Jackie in person and she was just the kindest, most loving soul. She will be sorely missed by many.
I am almost at a loss for the right words…..Jackie was a dear long-distance friend who I often wished was my next door neighbor. She had a huge heart, loved her life, her sweet husband Ivor with whom she shared a love of adventure and travel, and her darling ginger boys Eric and Flynn. I really will miss her more than I am able to express.
This makes me very sad indeed.
Such a tragic lost, she fought a hard battle, but now she is at peace.
My sincere sympathy to Ivor and all who knew and loved her.
We’re absolutely heartbroken to learn of Jackie’s passing. She was such a special friend to so many of us, and c she well be missed so very much.
We send our sympathy and wishes for peace and comfort for all Jackie’s friends and family.
Dangnabbit. I know, not the right word, but it’s the word that came first.
I’m praying for all who loved her and will miss her.
This one hits hard. Jackie was such a kind and special person. I know she has been reunited with her boys, Eric and Flynn, but she will be so missed by us all.
